One Year Till "The Watchmen"

One year from today - - on 03.06.09 - - the film version of The Watchmen will hit movie theatres.

If you don't know The Watchmen or if you're not a comic book fan, then you probably don't have a clue what this means for us fanboys. The only way I can explain it is that what Citizen Kane is to film, "The Watchmen" is to comic books and graphic novels.

A couple of years ago, I had a soft cover copy of "The Watchmen" and I gave it to Philip and told him to read it. He told me that he had too many books that he needed to read and he couldn't really start it, so I asked him to just read the first 10 pages. He left my apartment that night with the book and when I called him the next day, he told me he was at a bookstore buying his own personal copy of "The Watchmen." He couldn't put it down.

If you don't read or even if you don't like comic books, do yourself a favor and buy "The Watchmen." Alan Moore is a genius.

Today, the director of the film version of "The Watchmen," Zack Snyder, gave us a first look at some of the characters. These make me so happy because they are so friggin' perfect.

The Comedian

Nite Owl

Ozymandias

Rorschach

Silk Spectre

Adapting "The Watchmen" into a film is extremely difficult, but if these pictures are any indication, Zack Snyder is on the right track and March 6th, 2009 is going to be on Hell of a night at the movies.

omigod...I almost had an orgasm just reading this. Without even touching myself!

I had not IDEA this was so far into production! And the characters....my GOD, they are perfect!

I still don't know how they can fit all of Watchmen into a movie, I always thought like a mini-series on TV would be better suited to all its intricices, but looking at this, all I can say is... WOW!

And my Philip loves the watchmen...yet another plus... :)

HUGS...

I know some "purists" are up-in-arms about how the movie costumes differ from the originals, but I figure there's no way any movie adaptation is going to conform to a fanboy's wet-dream fantasy of his favorite comic. So screw 'em. Also, I can't imagine Nightowl's cape -- which is essentially a freaking cylinder -- looking good on a live actor. ...That said, I'd probably take Patrick Wilson in a barrel. The man is 100% unadulterated hotness!

Dearest fellow gays...
I'm feeling horribly inadequate. I have never been a superhero fan at all. Yeah, I watched the old "Batman" series on tv, but other than that, nothing.
Apparently, there are mutations of the gay gene that some get and some don't.

Regarding turn-ons and interests, I am SuperHero negative, but Streisand positive. I am piercing negative, but hairy chest positive.

For me, the whole superhero / comic book thing is like iced tea... I wish I liked it, but I don't. I've tried it, but it's not for me.

And to think it can make you orgasm without even touching yourself... I feel robbed!
