Aladdin

I started rehearsal's for Disney's Aladdin this past Monday and let me just say this...

Not only will I be in a full blue bodysuit as the Genie (which means, unlike Elphaba, I will only have to paint my face blue), but because I have some exposition as another character who is not the Genie at the top of the show, I will be costumed in a burqa.

Yep, I'm going to be Disney's Genie. In a burqa. I couldn't make that up if I tried.

I just saw these rather hot drawings of Disney heroes by David Kawena over at Meatcute and this one of Aladdin kind of did me in.

No burqa here. Not even close.

Mr. Kawena's other Disney heroes are just as hot. Check 'em out at deviantART.

Aladdin and Tarzan are mine.

(For Aladdin, there's a "rub my lamp" joke in there somewhere...)

Yeah, I saw these drawings too. Sweet. If someone looked like that and was in the play, they damn well better NOT be in a burka!

I see no reason to have to over sexualize everything in this world. Frankly, there is enough sexuality out there without having to add it to someone else's creation.

polt - I couldn't agree more!

anonymous - I couldn't agree less. If anything, in this country, our Puritanical thoughts about sex and sexuality have hindered us for hundreds of years. It's time we realize that Janet Jackson's breast is NOT scarier than video of bombs exploding and people being shot.

Stephen very true Stephen. I am Irish but live in England and it still shocks me at how much some people in the states overreact to things like Janet's wardrobe malfunction. You would not believe the things they show on British TV and no one bats an eye lid! oh and BTW i love the disney pictures too!

Anonymous... get over yourself.

Stephen - You can have Aladdin and Tarzan because Hercules is SO mine! I wish I could spell that sound Homer Simpson makes when he's fantasizing about a doughnut... buhuhuhuhuhuh... no, that's not it....

Isn't it amazing how all the New Puritans either have to hide behind their anonymity or else use an empty Blogger profile?

C'mon, Pollyannas! If you're so virtuous, quit hiding those big lamps of yours under a bushel basket! What is it the song says:

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine"

Well, light that bitch and let's get the party started! Now's no time for soldiers of the Lord to shrink like violets! There are feet to be washed and books to be burned! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

YAY! You get to be the genie! What a fun part! And um, how cute (and gay) is Aladdin??

Well, I guess after reading your blogs and seeing how much all of complain about being single, and or how unattractive you all make yourself, either personality or physically, it's understandable why you need to sexualize children material, and then justify it.

romach - Isn't it amazing that a breast is scarier than a horrifically violent act for Americans? I always get the feeling that all of Europe is quietly laughing at our Puritanism.

dirk - Usually, I would fight for Prince Eric, but I'm happy with Aladdin and Tarzan. What a menage!!!

chris - Hercules. Nice. I wonder if the Disney hottie we choose says something about our personality. And I chose the guy who lives with apes. Classy.

aaron - Where ever you're preaching, I'm going there for my Sunday sermon! You always know EXACTLY what to say. You are the best!!

cb - The guy playing Aladdin is a friend of mine and yes, he's very cute and very gay. And I'm very blue. :)

dharma - Thanks for the comment! Great blog you've got there! Yes, moderation in all things - - including moderation! You're so right about nudity vs. Jack Bauer. So very odd...

anonymous - I could have deleted your comment, but I didn't. I'll let you have your say, even though you do some anonymously. Why say such pointed things anonymously? Why not stand behind what you have to say? It's a free country. For now, anyway...

If anonymous doesn't have the balls to claim his own writings, I don't know why we're expected to have the patience to read them, or care about what he/she/it says.

Well, why would one want to remain anonymous, you are asking.

To quote you:

Any place we can reach you? So that we can kick your (again, notice the spelling) pathetic ass?

That being taken from another person's blog. Clearly, you're pretty violent. And yet, you spoke against violence in your first response, to support how getting hard over children's material is ok.

Now you might know why someone goes anonymous.

Aaron said...

People who really know all of us know that we're not at all violent, despite what we sometimes say (haven't YOU ever said, "I could kill you" to someone--would you really DO it??).

Stop cringing. It's MOST unattractive and terrible for the posture.

Stephen,
this person anonymous is a total troll. I hate it when people do that. And hey this is a free country with free speech, it's your site so you keep on doin what your doin and say what you want. We all love you for it.
