That is the first night of the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival for 2008 and on that night, the jumbo silver screen in Grant Park will be filled with Bette Davis in glorious black and white.
And while I wish that Ms. Davis would be up there saying...
...or...
...I will gladly accept Bette as Margo Channing saying...
"I'll admit I may have seen better days, but I'm still not to be had for the price of a cocktail, like a salted peanut. "
Yep, I'll be watching All About Eve for the4,287th time in Grant Park on July 15th. The rest of the Outdoor Film Festival looks fun as well...

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) – Aug 5, 8:35 p.m.

Look for me on a blanket near the front.
I'll be the one smuggling 3 bottles of red wine inside my MC Hammer Genie pants.

I don't think you have to smuggle wine, do you? Every one drinks! Drink, girl! Drink!
*Atta Girl!
Why can't Ithaca have cool things like that? Soak it up, kiddo! (The movies, not the wine.)...(Oh, who am I kidding, the wine, too!)
That's a great movie - sounds like a lot of fun! I'd love to see Affair and Grease too. Grand Rapids doesn't have anything near so fun. Perhaps Saugatuck though . . .
Alcohol is sooo much better when you sneak it in someplace! You drink that wine with the sneaky joy that makes it even better!
Any film festival that combines All About Eve and The Day the Earth Stood Still is all right by me.
i'm in....
Too bad The Joans have rehearsals on Tuesday, or I'd be there too! (I'd smuggle in some white wine, just to balance things out, in case somebody brought fish or something.)
I loved "Auntie Mame" when I saw it at the park. It's just fun watching those movies outside. It reminds me a little of the drive-ins when I was a kid!
I think I may be the only gay man in the US that has never seen All About Eve.
How awesome!! I love AaE! My favorite Margo Channing line, "A milkshake?"
Ah, lucky you! Gotta love those Bette Davis films. "Now, Voyager!" is my fave.
Mark :-)
Bette Davis, who I want to be when I grow up. Have you seen Now Voyager?
