"This Is About the Human Heart"

Last Tuesday, California decided that they care more for chickens than they do for gay people.

Do you know what that does to gay people? It pisses us off.

I've been joking about what I'm about to say to a few people, but I'm not so sure it's a joke.

No matter what has been said, I firmly believe that the death of Judy Garland had something to do with the reason that the drag queens and the bull dykes at the Stonewall Inn in 1969 finally said, "Enough is enough!," and rioted against yet another police raid of a gay bar.

Because of that, straight people better hope and pray that Streisand or Midler or Minnelli don't die sometime in the near future, because if one of our divas passes on right now, we're going to cause a riot that will make Stonewall look like a fucking children's tea party.

Gay men and lesbians are angry. Can you sense the shift? I feel it. In the midst of such hope and promise for the future, we are being told that we are less important than farm animals - - FARM ANIMALS! And that our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is NOT guaranteed and will not be given to us.

Because, apparently, we are unlovable. Maybe not to each other, but straight people aren't supposed to love us. Because they believe that Jesus doesn't love us. The Bible tells them so.

Our anger is building. The steam is building up and all it needs is one little thing, one event, and the lid is going to blow off.

I don't know what we will do when and if that happens, but I know that it won't be pretty and it won't be nice. And it definitely won't be forgotten for a long, long time.

Obviously, whenever I read or think about what's happened in the past week, I am filled with rage. Thankfully, Keith Olbermann is not. He addresses the issue in a much calmer way. From a place of love.

Thanks to Charissa for sending this to me.

Amen, sister.

Lord help us all if the gasket blows! I hope I'm in the middle of it!

I keep hearing people rubbing our noses in it, saying "The people have voted and it's final, so get over it."

Sadly, they've forgotten that it hasn't passed Constitutional muster...

Honey, I love you. Anyone who doesn't is missing out.

I have said ever since last Wednesday that this is building up to a Stonewall scene. In 1969 the only ones who knew about it were those who lived in the village. A couple days later some of the folks from other areas of Manhattan knew. Today we have the internet. If this thing blows, it'll be big. Everywhere.

I'm pissed. The more I think about it the madder I get.

Firstly, I love you. And my brother, and all my drama friends, and my current lgbt friends. We straights aint all bad.

Secondly, I love what Perez Hilton is doing: outting all the organizations and individuals (such as owners of restaurants and stores who'd take your money and your freedoms) who donated to yes on h8te. I think the impact of losing that business would show them how relevant a gay person's dollar is in the American market.

Fight! When my brother finally does fall in love, I don't want it to be bittersweet.

I have to admit that before I was passed this Keith Olberman video, I hadn't heard of him. But he makes his points very well and I'm glad he positioned himself as someone who had no close ties to cause his opinions, he just sees injustice as it is.

I can probably also say, that if one of our divas passes and it's time for gay revolt, then it will be interesting to see what the GLBT politcal organizations do who walk that "peaceful talks is the way to go" line. {cough cough HRC cough} I hope they'll realize that their peaceful talks haven't done much until now. 1 step forward and 2 steps back is no way to live.

Yes, I can feel the shift, and I can feel the anger building up inside me. It is time stand up. I know you'll be standing up with me on Sat 11/15 at 1:30 local time.

Mark :-)
