"Look, Ma'am, an Invitation..."

Well, I just received it - - my ticket confirmation for Barack Obama's Election Night event in Grant Park.

Now I have to decide if I'm going to go.

Yes, I would very much like to be in the park with other Obama supporters to celebrate what we hope to be his election to the office of President of the United States of America.

But the crowds downtown will be massive (which honestly frightens me a little), no chairs will be allowed in the park and we have no idea when the Democrats will receive confirmation that Obama has won the election.

Hours standing in Grant Park, wedged between tens of thousands of people. And only our moderately effective transit system to bring all of us home after it's over.

And what, God forbid, if McCain wins? Anything could happen in Grant Park. Anything.

What do you guys think I should do?

P.S. Is it me or doesn't Cindy McCain look like one of Indiana Jones' crystal skulls

I wonder if she was anywhere near Roswell in 1947.

Hmmm...

Hmmm, I'd say go for the once-in-a-lifetime-experience. You can always bail if it gets creepy or overwhelming.

Re; Cindy- funny observation. Although the few times she had her hair down I was like "who the heck is that???"

From the looks of her, she'd have been about a college sophomore at the time.

It really is a once-in-a-lifetime event. You'll kick yourself if you don't go, at least for a while. But don't stay for a long time, because I have a feeling the returns will not be complete before morning and it will be close.

That said, I'm staying the fuck away from Grant Park on Tuesday. I'm also going to try to leave work a little early to get away from downtown before the insanity really starts. (I just can't do that "frenzied mob" thing anymore--I don't have your talent with crowds, Stephen!) :-)

But I promise to kick myself all the way home...

I will come up and go with you:)

Seriously, I wish I lived in Chicago and could attend. You make a good point about who knows how long the whole thing might last, though. Maybe we'll have a good idea early enough in the day that you can decide.

I'm going without tickets! This is a once in a lifetime event, something to remember when I am 80! The weather is supposed to be fantastic that evening.

Hell yes...go. Among other things you can cruise the crowd for hot boys. And if Obama wins...those same hot boys will wanna celebrate.

Go, for the love of all that's blue!!!

I'd be there, but I have the ultimate actor's excuse--rehearsal (where I will be popping over to my laptop every second I get to see how the results are coming!)
