"It's the Most Wonderful (Two Months) of the Year"

Call me Scrooge, call me a Grinch, I don't care.

But this past Thursday, I was walking home from Lake Shore Drive on Cornelia and about a block in, through one of the windows on the first floor of a three-flat, I saw a brightly colored, fully decorated Christmas tree.  And I screamed...

"It's only November 6th! Can't you wait until AFTER fucking Thanksgiving?!?"

I hate - - HATE - - that Christmas is now not just a day, or a week, or even a month; it's TWO months. And it's growing.

For me, two months of one holiday - - and that's holy DAY!!! - - takes away everything special about that day.

But if you want display your Christmas tree in your house this early, that's fine. Just close your damn drapes.

Here here! And I hate to say it but we couldn't even get through Halloween without seeing Christmas Crap in the stores....

Sigh, thats why I concentrate more on Deep Fried Turkey and New Years Eve (will be yr # 11 for the hubby and I together, #5 since the commitment ceremony, and #3 for the Legal Civil union). If we get Married this year our friends will have a fit.

I'm one of those obsessed people. But I have an excuse, I work with Christmas 12 months a year. I never take down my tree it is up all year but mainly to display my geeky trek ornaments. Even though putting out the stuff earlier and earlier keeps me in business I see what you mean it is crazy that this holiday is taking over so much time. Please don't hate me for perpetuating the problem :)

kevin - Thanks for agreeing with me on this one! I love Christmas, just not for two whole months of the year!!!

kristie - You, of course, are excused from this rule. Especially since the bubble lights on my Christmas tree were given to me by you!!!!

I'm with you. It's so too early for Christmas decorations! By the time December 25th comes around I'll be sick to death of it all. One of our local radio stations is playing all Christmas music now. NOW!!!! There isn't that much Christmas music to play, seriously. grrrr

I do love Christmas time, but after Thanksgiving! Week before last I was walking out of the BP and the music on their system was Let it snow....

It's like when I blogged on Aug 18 about them having Halloween candy out.

Mother called me on November 1 this year trying to find out what I wanted for Christmas. I said, "Mom, I'm still washing off Halloween makeup. I can't have this conversation right now."

That seemed to do the trick.

uvon - Amen! Good for you! Fortunately for me, my mother despises early Christmas even more than I do. She was the first person I called!!! :)

On Nov 8 I heard Christmas carols being played in WalMart and KMart both.

I'm like you. Can we just get through Thanksgiving first?

Mark :-)
