"I'm Not Mad at You, Helga, I'm Mad at the Dirt!"

Bob from robertianish left this in the comments on my post about Tuesday's election and rally for President Elect Barack Obama...

"Let’s tear down that Bush of a bearing wall and put an Obama where it OUGHT TO BE!"

If that's not the PERFECT thing to say right now, I don't know what is!

I want that on a t-shirt!

P.S. Gay people - Help the straight people understand the quote.

Steve,

Joan says it to one of the contractors in "Mommie Dearest" when he's working on her and Al Steele's (Pepsi CEO that she'd just married) New York apartment. The contractor complains that the bearing wall is a real bitch and blocks the view. That's when Joan says the quote.

(Pretty stupid, actually, because the ceiling can collapse when you tear down a bearing wall. That's why they're called "bearing walls." But Joan didn't mind--her hair was sprayed so hard that it could withstand a shower of volcanic rock, never mind a ceiling...)

I'm straight and I got it! One of my favorite camp films. Of course, the picture gives it away as well. :)

I may be the only gay man on the planet that has never seen "Mommy Dearest."

I want that on a tshirt and the Color Purple shirt that says "I said, Hell No!"

unrelated, but you brought up the shirts.

Perfect quote! I think Michelle should have been using that in her campaigning all along!

Although, if you closely analyze my metaphor, referring to Bush as a bearing wall would imply that he's an integral foundation to US government. Which we know is ridiculous to imply. Oh well.
