"You Are the Butter to My Bread and the Breath to My Life"

Karen and I saw a movie last night.

No, not "G.I. Joe." I am avoiding that travesty at all costs. Even though it stars Channing Tatum.

Yep, that's how bad I think "G.I. Joe" is going to be. Even Channing Tatum can't get me into the theatre. WTF?!?

We saw "Julie & Juila" and we LOVED it.

Is it a chick flick? Yes. Is it a Nora Ephron chick flick? Sure is. Did this fag eat up every second of it? You bet your ass, I did.

Amy Adams can do no wrong. And Meryl is Meryl is Meryl - - a genius, THE actor of our or ANY generation, and one of the funniest people on the planet.

And from now on, if Meryl has a husband or a male best friend in a movie, can he ALWAYS be played by Stanley Tucci? ALWAYS!!! That man is sexy and brilliant and the perfect foil for Meryl.

Not to leave out the oh-so-hunky Chris Messina. So easy on the eyes. And yet, manages to make other areas... so stiff...

Sorry, I'm back. Go see "Julie & Julia."

Then you can compare Meryl's Julia...

...and Dan Aykroyd's Julia...

...with the real thing...

Bon app├ętit!

As much as this is a chick flick, I really think it has broad appeal. I think the line Meryl gives about the hot noodle things (don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it) alone is worth the price of admission.

"Amy Adams can do no wrong."

Agreed! And all the reviewers who were bored by her parts can just stick that in their pipes and smoke it!

I'm looking forward to see how Meryl plays "tall" - after all, a 5'6" actress playing a 6'2" woman takes skill! I read they asked tall extras to stay in the back of scenes or excused them altogether.

Your thoughts on GI Joe were correct. I went on Saturday. Channing was not enough. Ugh.

I am excited to see Julia and Julie.

Yesterday, my best friends Stephen (LeTrent) & Kathryn (now also LeTrent) got married.

Today, we played Dungeons & Dragons in the bridal suite with them, followed by a large and glorious French meal at Coquette, followed by this film.

It was among the best days of my life.

Bon apetite indeed!

Been in massive lust with Mr. Tucci ever since "Big Night." I saw that movie with my str8 friend, Dale, and he and I immediately went out for a huge pasta feast. I imagine "Julie & Julia" would have a similar efefct on us (though we'd probably crave coq au vin. Well, I would, anyway...

I'm going to go see GI JOE with the boyfriend because he's going to go see THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE with me.

JULIE AND JULIA is one I'll have to see alone. I don't think he could take that much estrogen in one sitting.

I loved both the Aykroyd one and the real one (she also loved the Aykroyd one), and I know I'm going to love Meryl Streep's, too.

I HATE Nora Ephron movies as a rule (a little of the "formula" goes a long way), but at least this one has a real biographical figure in it.

John Candy did a mean Julia Child also (despite his girth) on SCTV. He had the face and the voice down pat.

I absolutely can not wait to see this. There's so much to love, Meryl, Julia, FOOD! Holy crap, I just came.

It was the most charming and genteel movie ever. Its was like a frothy concoction of one of her souffles.
Bravo of a movie and Bravo

I'm surprised. You saw the filth that was Watchmen, so I figured the GI Joe comicbook thingy would be right up your alley!!

Filth? I'm sorry, filth?!? How is that brilliant adaptation of that "unfilmable" graphic novel filth?

I saw yesterdsay & did a post before seeing yours...but two Stephen R's can have an opinion, huh?
I loved the film & I agree about Stanley Tucci. I have always found him sexy, but I often find talented people to sexy.
I am plesed that we agree on this one.
