"Hold on Tight, We'll Muddle Through"

Another Oprah moment for me.

Today, Mackenzie Phillips discussed her new book, "High on Arrival," her drug problems and the incestuous relationship she had with her father.

Valerie Bertinelli surprised Mackenzie, briefly discussed their long history together, and then said the most brilliant thing...

"Give less judgment, more grace."

Amen to that.

P.S. In the "One Day at a Time" theme song, did anybody know the lyric in the bridge was, "So, up on your feet"? I always thought it was, "So, WHOP on your feet!" And what the fuck did I think THAT meant?!?

I had a thing for Valerie back when that show was on. I think it was more since she was the youngest to Mackenzie's older sibling. But she was a hoot.

Yes, the true lyric may be "So, up on your feet..." but anybody who transcribes it as anything other than "So WHUP on your feet..." (I'll give you "WHOP") is not dealing with reality.

Speaking of, reading the articles about Mackenzie's confession last night before bed kept me up, creeped out, all night. And Lord knows, it takes a lot to do that to me.

WOP on your feet = Dancing with a clumsy Italian?

I can't believe her story? Wow!

My sister and I used to say "so WHOP on the beat" - we figured it made sense because Mackenzie was dancing right before that. Even though we learned the correct lyrics YEARS ago, we still say it that way.

Shit like this happens all of the time.

Okay, I have reached my limit on celebrity crazy. I have put up with the DUI's, the arrests, the mudslinging divorces, the sex tapes, octo-moms, pregnant men, the OD's and the mystery deaths. Now we have strung out 70's sitcom actors peddling books about making homemade sin with daddy. Yes, I know she was victim and that she is probably broke and needs the cash, but... I am reeeely creeped out by this and it takes a lot to give me the creeps.

I really like "Give less judgment, more grace." I've always liked Valerie Bertinelli. Had a tiny bit of a gay crush on Mackenzie Phillips, too, which I never admitted.

I DID know that lyric, Stephen. And I loved ONE DAD AT A TIME.

Er, ONE DAY...
