A gay actor / director / fundraiser / cabaret singer / lesbian-esque guitar player from the hills of East Tennessee, living in Chicago and looking for... wait... what is it I'm looking for again?
He had this to say about Batman and Robin getting gay yesterday...
"Come on, now...
you KNOW B & R have been getting it on forever...
"I heard they were moving Stately Wayne Manor to Vermont..."
So true. So very, very true.
But, as we can see from this panel - - by Batman co-creator Bob Kane, no less - - the first time that Robin found out the real... ummm... "duties a billionaire expects from his ward," shall we say, Dick was a little shocked.
Maybe Bill Finger not receiving credit for co-creating Batman and therefore, not having his name on panels like this, is actually a blessing in disguise.
You'd think that, with my loathing - - my "unadulterated loathing" - - of that other show with a little too much pink for my taste (Wicked), that I would not want to see this theatrical piece of pop confection.
But somehow, posting this picture that I just received of me and Alexandra Billings performing "The Grass Is Always Greener" during the concert of her live cd entitled, "The Story Goes On," seems like the perfect post on Mother's Day.
Oh, how I wish the item in the video below actually existed.
I was just talking with my mom about how fun/exasperating it was to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation with her because of issues very similar to this.
My favorite was the day she saw Lt. Cmdr. Data and asked me...
"What the Hell is wrong with his face?"
So, I told her that Data was an android, which led to her second question...
"What's an android?"
I said that an android was basically a robot, so she said...
I, unfortunately, can't be with my mother on Mother's Day - - my brother, Jeff, is meeting her in Chattanooga today - - but here's my favorite John Roberts video all about Mother's Day.
For the last few months, I've been enjoying a great blog named A Collection of Men.
As the name suggests, it is FILLED with pictures of extremely hot men.
Sometimes they're dressed, sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're fucking, sometimes they're REALLY fucking.
But my favorite thing about the blog...
...other than the blog owner identifying himself only as "Daddy's Boy," which is, simply put, incredibly hot... especially when you see his cute profile picture...
...is Daddy's Boy's use of famous quotes.
He titles each of his posts with a famous quote, giving both the author and the author's dates, and his combination of words and images makes me smile.
For instance, today's post features this oh-so-hot picture (among others) and the title quote is...
"A couple of years prior I had teamed up to write a pilot with two writers, both of whom were gay.
"One of them said that when he travels through the Midwest with his partner they have to go through this fucking dog and pony act when they stop at a hotel and the guy behind the counter says, 'You want one room or two?'
"They have this charade where they’ll say to each other, 'Is one room OK with you?' 'Yeah, I’m cool with that if you are.' 'Yeah, no big deal, we’ll just take one.'
"That was one of many conversations I had with them where I thought to myself, Why is it that Johnny Spaghetti Stain in fucking Georgia can knock a woman up, legally be married to her, and then beat the shit out of her, but these two intelligent, sophisticated writers who have been together for 20 years can’t get married? It’s infuriating and idiotic."
Isn't that great? Isn't he one of the coolest people on the planet?
God, I want him so hard right now... With all those voices he does, it would be like sleeping with a different man every night. (Sure, I have different men, but it's not EVERY night. I skip that odd day in the leap years. Sometimes.)
Is it wrong that I kinda want to do him while he talks like Quagmire? Yeah, I'll stop...
Yes, the guy in the cap (The muscle head who has reached the stage in steroid use where he looks as if someone has shoved an air hose up his ass. Frequently) is hot. But...
Check out the guy behind him. He is just salivating over that roided up ass.
And his t-shirt seems to be counting down the seconds until he screams,
With a body like that, it's obvious that the 60's Bat-suit didn't give "Mr. HotPecs BedroomEyes McShowMeYourBatPole" here the sexual attraction he deserved.
I love me some Adam West. From Batman to Family Guy, he is one of the most unique actor/personalities in the business. There's Shatner and Adam West and that's about it.
Batman trying to sell all his Bat-gadgets reminds me of Batman trying to get rid of a bomb. This is my favorite scene from the 1966 Batman movie. Second only to the fake shark scene...
Just when you thought Gay couldn't get any gayer...
Also, for some reason, my little text exchange with Philip reminded me of what has to be the most bizarre, "probably untrue, but damn it, it might have actually happened" theatre story I ever heard.
They also nominated Allison Janney's performance as Violet for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, Mark Kudisch's performance as Mr. Hart for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical and Andy Blakenbuehler's choreography is up for Best Choreography.
But, in a "Streisand/PRINCE OF TIDES/Academy Awards" move, 9 to 5 was not nominated for Best Musical.
Which probably means that the Dolly's score was nominated so the Tony Awards telecast could have Dolly Parton present to help boost ratings.
I could care less. I get the Tony Awards and Dolly Parton together in one place at one time! That's every gay, redneck's dream come true!
Here's Dolly talking about her nomination...
P.S. For the longest time, I thought the lyric of 9 to 5's second verse where Dolly sings, "You're in the same boat with a lot of your friends" was...
Bea from Feeling Kinda Blog Today (who, incidentally, produced a kickass Chicago edition of Mortified last night, starring everybody's favorite playwright, Philip Dawkins)posted a request for this little item the other day.
And as I look at these women in the commercial, all I can think of is the movie Hairspray (the 1988 movie... the REAL movie...) and two lines from it...
I was putting together a "Five Famous People Who Share My Birthday" thing on Facebook the other day (yes, it's gotten that bad with me and the Facebook), so I did a Google search for my birthday (January 22nd) and there was a list of January 22nd birthdays.
When I saw the name Marie Dressler on the list, I flipped.
I love me some Marie Dressler. Especially in Dinner at Eight.
So, I of course put her down as one of my "Five Famous People." Only she wasn't born on my birthday. She was born on November 9th, 1868.
I should have known the list I read was wrong when it claimed that Marie was born in 1907. Because, if that were true, she would have been 25 years old in 1933, the year Dinner at Eight was released.
And as you can see from this clip (where Ms. Dressler delivers the funniest last line of any movie that has ever been made), Marie is far from 25...
And this past week, it was the H1N1 Flu (or "The Flu Formerly Known as Swine")
That kind of week-long media frenzy isn't anything new or uncommon, but instead of creating an overnight sensation or watching the Big "O" send her first Tweet, this health scare sold thousands of masks, closed hundreds of schools and lead to yet another episode of "Joe Biden Says the Darndest Things!" Which made me think...
Where was this kind of media frenzy when we lost habeas corpus? When Bush tapped our phones without a warrant? When our President lied to start a war?
Yes, the media covered those events, but not with the intensity of a "new" 10-year old Susan Boyle song. Not with the attention to detail one finds in the critiques of Oprah's first Tweet .
Which is why I kind of wish that Leslie Kritzner's new character, Roz Reinbaum, was a real reporter. So that she could bring her unique and hilarious intensity to the important news of the day.
"We know that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn't because he was gay. The bill was named for him, the hate-crimes bill was named for him, but it's really a hoax that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."
...Roz could shove a microphone in her face and say, "This is UNACCEPTABLE!"
P.S. The "box color" line nearly killed me.
P.S.S. The CSI Miami spoof on the swine flu is from The Daily What.
