Last night, I went to see Infamous Commonwealth Theatre Company's production of THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE with my friend and incredible Season of Concern fundraiser, Karen Bronson.The production of this Edward Albee play was extremely well-done and the cast was wonderful, especially Karen's friend Annie Slivinski as the title character.
While the entire play will stay with me for quite awhile (as do all of Albee's plays), one particular line shocked me, made me laugh and sent a chill right down my spine.
Here's the line. And please note, this play premiered in 1980...
"We're too moral to survive.
A real Nixon will come along one day, if the Russians don't."

Whim - I know. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I heard it last night.
Except that Bush is much, much dumber than Nixon, so he's not quite in the league...although the Russians seem to be making a comeback these days...
Aaron - I'd take a Cold War (or even a Luke Warm War) with the Russians anyday over a dumber, meaner Nixon anyday!!!
