My lovely mother, Wanda, was invited to a Halloween Party over the weekend by her co-worker Mitzi. She called me up and said she had no idea what to wear since she didn't have any money for a costume. Since we just got back from our annual vacation in Hilton Head, SC about a month ago, I told her to wear her bathing suit, put on tons of make-up and tease her hair to Jesus...(as we say in the South, "The taller the hair, the closer to God.")...and make a sash that says "Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model." Well, Mama went all out, adding black tights to the equation (I'm not quite sure why, but the result is as comedic as it is confusing), and stuffing her bra with enough ripped up fabric to make Pamela Anderson consider going up one more cup size. Here is the picture that Mitzi sent me this morning of Mama in full regalia...
Now, if that isn't a winning costume at a party, I'm not quite sure what IS!?!?!?!?
Check out the brown shoes with the black tights and the moss-colored mock turtleneck she wears underneath the blue, purple and white bathing suit. If Michael Knight had shown colors like these at Bryant Park, he would have won PROJECT RUNWAY!!
The necklace my mother wears is...or course...from the Macy's Accessories Wall.
(Sidebar: Is anyone else frightened of that man...or is it a mannequin [no, not like Kim Catrall in that movie!!!] in the background? Is that a pumpkin head?!?!? Does his Family Tree fork??!? I'll bet somewhere in the distance you can hear the theme from DELIVERANCE.)
Next up: Thanks to my great friend Alanda (check out her fantastic blog: http://alandacoon.blogspot.com/) for pointing out that MIDLER ON THE ROOF has a mention in this week's WINDY CITY TIMES in the Stage Door Johnny Column: http://www.windycitymediagroup.com/gay/lesbian/news/ARTICLE.php?AID=13073
Thanks to Johnny for the shout out. Notice that the paragraph for MIDLER ON THE ROOF is bigger than the paragraph about the CCP benefit...not that I'm a size queen...but...
Johnny unfortunately leaves out the name of my incredible partner in the show, Mr. Jeff Roscoe but its a great plug - - not too small...not too big...its JUST RIGHT!

I LOVE your mom! And yes, that "guy" in the back ground is WAAAAY too creepy!!!
Mama is truly her own woman. When I told her that I was starting a blog...well, first I had to explain what the Hell a "blog" was which I'm certain is still a foreign concept to her...but then she immediately asked, "Are you gonna put that picture of me on your blog!??!" Ahhh...craving the spotlight...like mother, like son...
