Streep should have won. Period, end of story.
Someone asked me if I had seen "The Blind Side." My response was, "We've ALL seen 'The Blind Side.'"
Just the clip they showed at the Oscars proved that "The Blind Side" is simply every fucking movie that's ever been made.
Right down to the line, "You're changing that boy's life," to which Bullock's character replies, "No, he's changing mine."
Gross. How much throw-up can my mouth take?
I'm with Mo Rocca. I want to live among Streeple. A world inhabited by the characters Meryl Streep has played.
Can you imagine Miranda Priestly meeting Madeline Ashton? The mind reels...

I am still grieving. I think Julie & Julia was her finest in a lifetime of 1st rate performances.
I do appreciate that Sandra has been playful & funny during the awards season, picking up her Razzie & having a fake feud with Streep... but yeah, the Academy got this wrong.

Now that i think about it, yes, that is really bad! And cliche!
But didn't Sandy deliver that line like an Oscar winner? haha
My favorite line from the Blind Side is "Who'd have thought we'd have a black son before we knew a Democrat?"

While I whole-heartedly agree with you, if Sandy was going to win for anything, it was going to be for this movie (admittedly a Lifetime Movie Channel movie). Meryl already has a naked gold guy. And she will undoubtedly get another.
Personally, I think that if Meryl wasn't going to win, then Gabby Sidibe should have won before Sandy. But you know how those old farts in Hollywood love them some America's Sweetheart.
I've really come to believe that Streep is really taken for granted. Why bother with all the awards and praise she gets, that she is emeritus, the actress to model your career by (if you're female), if you're not going to give her anything other than the nomination and now she has 16 of them?
I know, I get it, she won twice. Sandra [Bullock] won once and will (possibly) never be up for one again. It's her Mildred Pierce---the Everywoman that the Academy loves. Ya-a-a-awn.
But Meryl transforms herself even in a bad movie. The features are there, but the character is LIVING---it sneaks up on you and before you know it, you're inside its world. She'll undoubtedly get a third, and I'm daring to say a fourth (come on, Kate Hepburn won 4 and she, as excellent as she was, is not Meryl), but it's like they're waiting for her to really age and give it for a lesser performance than the ones she gave in Devil Wears Prada and Doubt. to name a few.
Um, and Dan Aykroyd did a better Julia Child. That's all I'm sayin.
And the movie Julie and Julia made me want to stab my eyeballs out. Much like Avatar.
I'm glad neither won.
I have neither seen THE BLIND SIDE, nor do I wish to. Mostly because everything Sandra Bullock is in -- except for SPEED -- is just plain awful.
That said, my feelings toward her winning the Oscar have softened a bit in light of that thing she married fucking around on her.
I know, I know -- I'm such a fickle bitch.
