Bring Back Shields and Yarnell

Thanks to everyone for their concern about my nasty fall. And a special thanks to Eric McCool for my new LifeAlert necklace. I'll never be in harm's way again!!!

I'm feeling great this morning. No headache, no nausea and only twice have I ran up to a stranger saying...

"Are you the Key Master? I am the Gate Keeper!"

I think I'm fine.

So fine, in fact, that I wanted to share the first of a few of my favorite Christmas videos from YouTube.

This is the promo for Aunt Barbara's Christmas Special. We love our Aunt Barbara and this video is made even funnier for me because of a joke in Lyle.

You see, at the first read, I had a line in one of my songs that went like this...

"Together, we will rise to the top again, just like Crosby and Hope. Martin and Lewis. Flotsam and Jetsum."

But when I read it - - me being the asshole that I am - - I wanted to shake up the reading and get a laugh from something off the page, so I said...

"Together, we will rise to the top again, just like Crosby and Hope. Martin and Lewis. Shields and Yarnell."

Well, I got my laugh. Big time.

The room exploded with laughter and George Howe who wrote the song shouted, "That it! That's in the show."

And you'll notice from Aunt Barbara's video that Shields and Yarnell are also mentioned.

If anyone can bring them back, YOU can! (Although it would have to be separately, because they are hopelessly divorced now.)

Thanks for jogging our memory--here's a little something something to remember them by. Arte Johnson and Judy Carne did it first, but Shields is so much prettier than Arte Johnson. God almighty!

This is why I love you Stephen.

Because I get you. Brilliant.

Shields & Yarnell, indeed.

Just a "walk against the wind" away from Mummenschanz.

This is truly the campaign to get behind in 2008.

While Shields and Yarnell may be hopelessly divorced, they did reunite this year for a Farewell Reunion Tour, which it looks like we missed.

Dear god, I am quite sure it has been at least 100 years since I've thought of Shields and Yarnell. Where have they been? Even divorce shouldn't be able to stop such talent.

Mark :-)

Aaron - Shields without Yarnell is like Gay without Liza. It just can't be!!!

Doug - We get each other! It's Shields and Yarnell's world. We just live in it.

Mike - How could we have missed this? Where did they tour? Peoria?!? And yes, give me Shields and Yarnell over Romney and anybody any day!!!

Mark - They're still going, I guess. Those robotic bodies run on Energizer batteries apparently. :)

I remember SHields and Yarnell..they were on around the Captain and Tenielle variety hour, right? Along with the Brady Bunch variety hour.

God, 70's tv...that was good drugs we were taking back then, wasn't it?

HUGS...

Polt - We didn't need hard drugs in the 70's; we had variety shows!! :)

the dawns - What a wonderful comment to read! Thank you! I am still amazed that people actually read what I write. To say that it is a gift is quite a compliment. Thank you!!!

No Shields and Yarnell, huh? I think I just had a crush on the guy. That slicked back, black hair and that mustache he would draw on. That was hot to me when I was 6.
